Eyes Wide Open

Things that brighten my day or inspire me.

Write about what really interests you, whether it is real things or imaginary things, and nothing else. C. S. Lewis

Get outside. Be creative. Dream. Create something. The story of 9 year old Caine and his detailed cardboard arcade is inspiring. That kid is going to create something awesome one day.

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;

Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed His precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.

I used to have this quote somewhere in my apartment before I moved to Wisconsin! Negativity…the tool of the lazy thinker…

Go measure the heavens with your span;
go weigh the mountains in the scales;
go take the ocean’s water and calculate each drop;
go count the sand upon the sea’s wide shore;
and when you have accomplished all of this,
then you can tell how much He loves you!
He has loved you long!
He has loved you well!
He will love you forever!

C H Spurgeon

I love this. Truth, for whatever we struggle with.

Did Jesus Die For Your Porn Addiction?

Did Jesus die for a future you who has enjoyed years of sexual sobriety … or did he die for you at 2:23 a.m. in front of a computer screen clicking on picture after picture?

Ever hear the classic…

devineromance:

All that we call human history—money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery—[is] the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy. C. S. Lewis

As a child I received instruction both in the Bible and in the Talmud. I am a Jew, but I am enthralled by the luminous figure of the Nazarene…No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life.
